“My current abstract works are a culmination of my background in textiles
and painting experience. I use inspiration from the linear quality of interlocking threads, drawings of fabric and the surface quality and texture of the paint. I work freely with acrylic, oils and charcoal on paper. Working quickly has given me a sense of freedom that has resulted in a new vocabulary of line and forms. I like to work intuitively but also referencing line and form from previous drawings or paintings. When I paint I have a sense of urgency, putting up quite a fight with the surface, overpainting, reinstating and scraping off until I feel that the piece has a life of its own”
