The Crit Lab Travels
The Crit Lab is a mobile Lab meeting in studios around the country, led by Patricia Miranda and organized with artists in their region. Labs currently meet in Port Chester, NY, Boston, MA (Somerville, Brookline), and Pawtucket RI. Labs meet in person and also via Zoom. Private sessions are available digitally or in person. In the Labs we engage intensively with the work, building a strong artistic community along the way.
The Crit Lab offers several ways to engage
Main Labs are 5 monthly concentrated full day meetings with up to seven artists- the same artists for all five sessions.
Next Level Labs are structured the same as the Main Labs with a more intensive focus, including creating a studio plan, additional readings, discussion, and professional development.
Alt MFA is a 5-day intensive with Critique from multiple artists, Visiting Artist Lectures, Critical Theory discussions, and a day of studio/gallery visits.
One-on-One Labs are private single or ongoing mentoring and critique sessions with Patricia and other Crit Lab associates.
The Lab Italy Residency takes place at the Venice Biennale and at RUC residency in the Italian Alps.
The Crit Lab plans regular events at galleries and studios. The Crit Lab website is a public space where current Crit Lab artists are featured on a free portfolio page. Past participants remain connected on our past page. The Crit Lab maintains a private Facebook group for current and past participants; we share images from crits, articles, commentary, resources and more.
The Crit Lab newsletter sends occasional updates on the Crit Lab, MAPSpace, Patricia Miranda, and the artists from the Labs. Sign up for our mailing list here.
